However, recent studies on iron reduction in anaerobic sediments suggested that bacteria can also generate magnetite in the absence of oxygen5.

The SEM and EDS results revealed that Zn was presented in fayalite, magnetite, and silicate slag. The Pb-bearing mineral was not found because of the low Pb content of CS.
