A bit of clarification in response to above. - SX1LP has a BRUSHLESS motor - 250w - output power- belt drive.100rpm - 5000rpm speed range. - SX1L has a BRUSHED motor - 150w - output power - gear drive - 2000rpm max speed. On the SX1LP - the torque is controlled by the control board.

Another project is finally finished: SIEG X2 aka MINI MILL BELT DRIVE CONVERSION. The original SIEG X2 DC motor prematurely left me with a piece of junk, cause to carbon brushes spikes. I tried to change mosfet, but after another set, i decided to convert this machine to belt drive. The new version uses a 750W motor (1HP) with a Mitsubishi VFD.

Belt Drive Ratios. I have tried the mill on both high and low ratios and it works very nicely, a joy to use. The ratios are roughly: 66/30 = 2.2:1 for the higher speed and 72/26 = 2.8:1 for the low speed. The only small items that need to be done are a belt guard and a lever to lock the rotation of the shaft.
