11-25-2010, 01:20 PM. A Taiwanese A1S type mill with a 8x30 (or so) sized table is nice. They are pretty sturdy and dead simple. They weigh about 1000 lbs and have about 17" of Z clearance which is nice. A number of companies sold them over the years. They were first imported in the 1980's if memory serves.

I just bought a used Grizzly G3102. This is about the same size as a Clausing 8250 and fits pretty easily into my basement workshop with low ceilings. The mill is 5' 6" tall, and you need just a little more clearance to open the top to adjust the belts. The table is 6x26".

I would appreciate some cold, honest feedback on product "quality" from anyone who own the Grizzly (G3102) or Harbor Freight (40939) 6x26 vertical knee mills. I can get the HF shipped to my door for $1600 while the Grizzly runs $2900. That's a hell of a price delta.
