Q1: An iron ore body is 25% Fe, and consists of a mixture of magnetite and silica. The ore is quite hard, with a work index of 14 kW-hr/tonne, and tests have shown that it is suitable for autogenous grinding. The magnetite has a liberation size of approximately 25 micrometers, and the magnetite grains are uniformly distributed through the ore.

However, plant grinding targets may not allow the coarse-grained, more easily liberating magnetite ores to increase throughput and can actually result in decreased throughput due to recirculation.

In this case the magnetite sample required grinding down to 34µm to achieve magnetite liberation. At this size the IsaMill™ was 40% more energy efficient than the ball. In the test the

The area ratio was separated into five groups, namely, <20, 20-40, 40-60, 60-80, and >80 pct, as shown in Figure 6.

The argillation of iron oxides is more severe during the grinding stage of ilmenite with the JC than with the HPGR.

The ore must be ground to a particle size sufficiently close to the grain size of the iron-bearing mineral to allow for a high degree of mineral liberation. Most of the taconite used today requires very fine grinding.

Magnetite ore stage grinding-magnetic separation process The stage grinding-magnetic separation process mainly utilizes the characteristics of magnetite that can be enriched under coarse grinding conditions, and at the same time, it can discharge the characteristics of single gangue, reducing the amount of grinding in the next stage.

Gaudin [ 9 ] developed a mineral liberation model for breakage, but it considered materials only as cubes of equal volumes in an excessively simplified mineral mosaic relation.

Typical grinding fineness target to achieve silica grade in the concentrate is 80 to 90% passing 25 microns, or a P80 of approximately 20 microns. After primary grinding, the magnetite ore is first upgraded by rougher magnetic separation.
