Apr 3, 2017. #1. Heres a short clip and a few pics of the Atlas MFC Horizontal Milling Machine circa 1950, I just finished restoring. I purchased it from a fella in Toronto who had it on Kijiji. It appeared to be lightly used as there was no wear on any of the gears, everything was very stiff if not seized because of old dry grease and dirt.

Another was a power Z axis and power Y axis for his Jet milling machine. Yet another was a variable speed control for the spindle of his Grizzly lathe. That same macine also sported a variable speed drive connected to the feed rod. The Steptoe shaper actually sold for $150.00 dollars while the Atlas sold for $650.00.

This is a very nice Atlas MFC horizontal milling machine. It is intact and fully functional. There are no broken castings. This mill has the 32 speed table feed option. It needs a new drive belt and some minor adjustments for the back gear. Comes with with hold downs and lots of milling cutters. Perfect for a small shop. Cash only.

M1 (sometimes incorrectly listed, even in Atlas documents, as the MI) with only manual (hand wheel) table feed. MF with power table cross feed and manual on the other two axes.

Drill thru, bore the thread area, bore through the mill shank section, ream to finish size. Cut the threads and face the end completes the machining and all will be concentric. The horizontal indexer is a bolted and doweled assembly. Lathe change gears are used for indexing and the work may be held between centers or by the Unimat chuck.
