Lots of reports say the Griz quality control is worth whatever extra you might pay for a Sieg machine from them. And Griz does sell a Rong-Fu 45 clone (I don't think it's an actual Rong-Fu) the G0519. Beware, it's sold with a 220v 3-phase motor. (Other RF-45 clones are not necessarily sold with 220 3-phase.

The sherline ond other mills just seem so small and limited and I have no place to put a bridgeport. It can be converted to cnc for under 3K. Whats the best bang for the buck for like 3K??

This Mill goes by the name of the X3. This machine is the next step up from the mini mill. The mini mill is called the X2 and is sold by Hare and Forbes in Australia or Harbour Freight / Grizzly in the United States. The Mill is capable of 25mm drilling / end milling or 50mm facing. This is more than enough for most small projects.

I have Sieg X2 mini mill & C3 14"x7" mini lathe. For the money they are excellent. Bought both from ebay - seller ozmestore1. I did strip both machines & did some "tuning" - gib adjustment, lapping, etc. Improved accuracy quite a bit. One excellent site to visit is mini-lathe For the money, in my opinion, there's nothing better on the market.

Having owned mini lathes in the past, the Lathemaster is a much more rigid machine, much higher quality than the typical 7x lathe. HF also sells the lathe as the 8x12, but is the same size. I would not go smaller than the 8x14 series. I also have a Sieg X3 milling machine with digital readouts. My version is sold by Grizzly.

One thing at least with the Sieg Machines.... Many models are sold by Grizzly and LMS, which means parts are available and at least through Grizzly reasonably priced. I picked up a Syil X3, which a CNC conversion of the SX3 by Syil. ... Arc Euro Trade has some great info about disassembling and cleaning Sieg Machines.
