That quill, combined with a rotary or universal table, essentially makes the FP2 like a mini horizontal boring mill when needed..pretty cool feature. Having said all that, another thing that, to me, makes the Deckel more pleasant to use than that Maho is the joystick to engage X and Z axis, plus the little lever to engage Y axis.
